Trailheads Melted Out and Climbing Routes in Good Condition

Coleman-Deming Camp and Route Conditions - June 1, 2019

It's been a warm spring in western Washington and many of the trailheads around Mount Baker are already snow free. Skyline Divide, Heliotrope Ridge, Boulder Ridge, and Schriebers Meadow trailheads are all accessible by car.

The snowline currently sits around 4500-5500 feet, depending on aspect. On the approaches to the glaciers, skiers and splitboarders should expect to carry their boards for several miles before being able to skin continuously.

We've posted new ranger observations for the Easton GlacierColeman-Deming, and Boulder Glacier routes, but with such rapid melt occurring, conditions on trails and climbing routes will change daily. Be prepared for everything from cold temps and high winds on the summit to hot weather and rushing creeks on lower trails.

And stay tuned for more updates!
